Abstract

Hub location problems arise wherever we face complex networks for information or products transshipment. Hubs are special facilities that act as distribution intermediaries in distribution networks. In this paper, a median hub location problem with single allocation and multiple products is analyzed. Regarding limited resources, funding methods and budget considerations are most important in financial decisions. There are some national-level projects that government is not capable of full funding of them. In such cases using foreign investors, institutions and banks are inevitable. Therefore, in the proposed model three methods for hub construction funding are taken into account. A mathematical model is developed for hub location problem with multiple products using land transportation. In this model, cost of hybrid hubs (rail and road) foundation, inter-hub transportation costs and hubs-non-hubs transportation are minimized. To run the proposed model, statistical data related to road transportations of Iran in 2013-2014 is used. Also, to solve the proposed problem, we have used GAMS 24.1.3 optimization software. Results show that the proposed model is capable of finding optimum location of hubs and also the best methods of finance under budget limitations.
